Don Lemon, who has often been the target of President Trump's criticism, expressed his frustration with the president's rhetoric, stating, "In a time when we need leadership when we need compassion, this is the crap that you're peddling? Conspiracy theories?" Lemon's remarks were made in the context of the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, which has had a significant impact on the United States, infecting over 1.1 million Americans and causing more than 67,000 deaths, as reported by researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

President Trump recently appeared on a Fox News town hall at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, where he discussed plans for reopening the American economy while acknowledging the possibility of a resurgence of the virus in the fall. The White House's current estimate for the initial death toll ranges between 100,000 and 240,000.

The president retweeted a tweet that claimed "evidence has surfaced" suggesting that Barack Obama was behind the "Russian hoax." The tweet was authored by David J Harris Jr, an African American conservative who describes himself as an entrepreneur, founder of a healthy lifestyle supplement company, and a speaker, according to his Apple podcasts biography. The tweet referred to an article that suggested Operation Hurricane, the FBI investigation into Russian election interference and its connections to Trump's campaign, was orchestrated from the Oval Office.

It is worth noting that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation did not establish a criminal conspiracy between Trump and Russia but did not exonerate the president of potential obstruction of justice.

The mention of the "birth certificate" pertains to Trump's previous promotion of the conspiracy theory that Barack Obama was not born in the United States and therefore ineligible to serve as president. Obama publicly addressed this issue during a White House dinner in 2011, and in 2016, Trump acknowledged Obama's US citizenship while attributing the conspiracy to Hillary Clinton.

Lemon also commended former President George W. Bush for his call for unity during the pandemic. In response, Trump criticized Bush, asserting that he was absent in speaking out against the impeachment proceedings related to Trump's actions concerning Ukraine.

As of Monday, Trump had not responded directly to Lemon's comments but had instead focused his criticism on other TV hosts, specifically Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC.
