Geraldo Rivera, originally named Gerald Michael Riviera, is an American journalist, talk show host, writer, and attorney. He is currently employed at WTAM (1100 AM), where he hosts a daily one-hour talk show called "Geraldo in Cleveland." He also hosts a weekly podcast on the iHeartRadio app, starting on September 24. Rivera gained prominence as the host of the "Geraldo" talk show, which aired from 1987 to 1998. He has also hosted the newsmagazine program "Geraldo at Large" and occasionally broadcasts "Geraldo Rivera Reports." Additionally, he frequently appears on various Fox News programs, including "The Five."

In 1966, Geraldo Rivera enrolled at Brooklyn Law School and gained valuable experience through internships with the New York County District Attorney's Office. He excelled in his studies and earned his J.D. degree near the top of his class in 1969. That same year, he was awarded a Reginald Heber Smith Fellowship in poverty law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He subsequently joined the New York State Bar, becoming a licensed attorney.
Rivera's involvement with the Puerto Rican activist group and his work at organizations like Community Action for Legal Services and the National Lawyers Guild brought him attention. In 1960, during an interview about the group's occupation of an East Harlem church, he caught the eye of Al Primo, the news director at WABC-TV.

Impressed by Rivera's passion and potential, Primo offered him a job as a reporter. Recognizing Rivera's lack of journalistic experience, ABC planned for him to participate in the Summer Program in Journalism for Members of Minority Groups at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1970. This program, funded by the Ford Foundation, aimed to provide introductory training in broadcast journalism to individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.

The show was scheduled in the two hours between Imus in the Morning and The Rush Limbaugh Show on WABC. On January 30, 2012, he also started hosting a weekday show on KABC in Los Angeles.
