Rosario Dawson Biography

Rosario Isabel Dawson is an American actress, singer, and producer. She made her feature film debut in the 1995 independent drama Kids. Her subsequent film roles include He Got Game, Josie and the Pussycats, Men in Black II, Rent, and Sin City. Dawson has also starred in several television series, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Seven Days, and Daredevil. She is also the voice of Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Rosario started her first film in the 1995 independent drama Kids. She has since starred in a number of critically acclaimed films, including He Got Game (1998), Rent (2005), Sin City (2005), Seven Pounds (2008), and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). 

She has also starred in several television series, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Seven Days, and Daredevil. She is also the voice of Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. 

She starred as Becky in Clerks II (2006). In Back to the Well, a documentary about the making of the series, she stated that the donkey show sequence was what made her decide to take the role. In May of the same year, Dawson co-created and co-wrote the comic-book miniseries Occult Crimes Taskforce. She was at the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con to promote the comic. 

She co-starred with former Rent alumna Tracie Thoms in the Quentin Tarantino throwback film Death Proof in 2007, part of the Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double feature Grindhouse. She produced and starred in Descent alongside her friend Talia Lugacy, whom she met at the Lee Strasberg Academy. On July 7, 2007, Dawson presented at the American leg of Live Earth.

She appeared in Top Five in 2014, for which she was nominated for the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress in a Comedy, and in 2018, she played the female lead role in the film Krystal. In 2020, she was cast as the Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano in the second season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ and reprised her role in The Book of Boba Fett. She will also reprise the role in the spinoff miniseries, Ahsoka. In 2022, she reprised her role as Becky for Clerks III (2022).

Dawson did not attend college. She dropped out of high school at the age of 16 to pursue her acting career. However, she is a self-educated woman and has taken classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York City.

Dawson has said that she does not regret dropping out of high school. She believes that her education has come from her experiences in life and her work as an actress.

"I've learned so much from the people I've met and the things I've done," she said. "I don't think I would have learned that much in a classroom."
